Ravinder Kumar's Memorable Journey to Vaishno Devi: A Spiritual and Physical Adventure

The holy shrine of Vaishno Devi, situated in the Trikuta mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, is one of the most visited pilgrimage destinations in India. Millions of devotees from all over the country and abroad visit this sacred place every year to seek the blessings of the Mother Goddess. Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Himachal, had been planning his visit to Vaishno Devi for a long time. He had heard a lot about the sanctity of the place and the arduous trek that leads to the temple. He had also been told about the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the scenic beauty of the area. Finally, he decided to make the journey and experience the spiritual and physical adventure that awaited him.



Ravinder started his journey from Himachal Pradesh and reached Jammu by train. From there, he hired a taxi and proceeded to Katra, the base camp of the Vaishno Devi trek. The journey from Jammu to Katra took about an hour and a half. On reaching Katra, he checked into a hotel and rested for a while before starting the trek early the next morning.


The trek to Vaishno Devi temple is a steep climb of about 12 km. It is divided into several stages, each with its own set of challenges. The first stage is a 6 km walk from Katra to Banganga. The second stage is a 4 km walk from Banganga to Adhkuwari. The third and final stage is a 2 km walk from Adhkuwari to the Vaishno Devi temple.


Ravinder started his trek early in the morning, at around 5 AM. The weather was pleasant, and the cool breeze made the climb more enjoyable. He took breaks at regular intervals, sipping on water and munching on snacks. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with the mountains looming large on either side.


Ravinder reached the Vaishno Devi temple at around 11 AM. The temple was crowded with devotees, all waiting to get a glimpse of the Mother Goddess. Ravinder stood in the long queue, patiently waiting for his turn. Finally, he entered the temple and felt a sense of calm and peace wash over him. He offered his prayers and sought the blessings of the Mother Goddess.


After spending some time at the temple, Ravinder started his descent. The journey downhill was much easier, and he reached Katra in a couple of hours. He was exhausted but elated at having completed the trek successfully. He spent the rest of the day relaxing at his hotel and reminiscing about his Vaishno Devi visit.
